4-3 Victory In 11 Innings

First baseman Ryan O'Hearn's walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning gave Sam Houston State a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Northwestern State in a Southland Conference baseball game Friday night.

The victory extended Sam Houston's current winning streak to 11 games. The Bearkats stand 22-9 for the year and in first place in the Southland with a 12-2 record.

Northwestern State drops to 12-16 for the year and 9-5 in league action. The Demons came into the series in second place in the league.

Designated hitter Anthony Azar went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer. Jordan Bunch was the winning pitcher in relief.

Northwestern State drew first blood in the top of the second inning on a RBI single by center fielder Drew Helenili to left field.

The Demons added another run in the top of the fifth inning as Colin Bear walked, reached third on an error then scored when a pitch got away from Bearkat catcher John Hale.

After  Mitch Huckabay reached third on a single, an error and a sacrifice bunt, rightfielder Jordan Buckley brought in third Demon run with a sacrifice fly to left.

Designated hitter Anthony Azar blasted a two-run homer off the top of the scoreboard in left center to cut the Demon lead to 3-2 in the sixth inning.
