Bearkats face McNeese State in Lake Charles

In the women's tilt at 1 p.m., McNeese (7-8, 2-2 Southland) faces off with the league-leading Bearkats..
The Cowgirls are coming off a commanding 68-39 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Thursday night to even their conference record. McNeese is led by the Baggett twins, Ashlyn and Caitlyn. Ashlyn is the teams leading scorer (17.7 ppg.) and ranks fourth in the conference in that category. She also leads the team and ranks eighth in the league in three-point field goal percent (36.0).
Sam Houston State enters the game on a four game winning streak and are one of two undefeated teams in the league. The Bearkats are led in scoring by seniors Britni Martin and Sequeena Thomas. Martin leads the team with 17.1 ppg. And a 35.7 three-point field goal percent and a 80.0 free throw percent as well as leading the team in assists with 3.9 per contest.
Thomas is averaging a double-double with 13.9 ppg. And 12.2 rpg. She is the league's leading rebounder and shot blocker (1.5).
Both the McNeese and Sam Houston men's basketball teams will be looking to make it two-in-row on Saturday when the pair tip off at 3:15 p.m.
McNeese (7-7, 1-3 SLC) is coming off a 75-71 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for the team's first league win of the season. Sam Houston State (9-6, 2-1) defeated Lamar on Thursday night. The Bearkats have won six of their last seven games.
