Bennett Earns Southland Weekly Honors

Bearkat freshman Megan Bennett was named as Southland Soccer Defender of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Central Arkansas senior forward Adriana Lucar was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while her teammate Lyndzey Goff was selected as goalkeeper of the week.
Bennett anchored the Sam Houston State defense that picked up a double overtime road win against McNeese State.
The freshman from Spring, Texas (Klein Oak H.S.), played all 104 minutes against the Cowgirls, and helped stop the McNeese offense that could only manage one shot on goal in the contest.
Next up for the Kats is at Northwestern State Friday at 7 p.m. The Kats will return home Sunday at 1 p.m. against Stephen F. Austin. Fans will have an opportunity to get free food, from Pita Pit, before the game.
