The Sam Houston State soccer team will host their final two home games of the 2013 season this weekend with A&M-Corpus Christi Friday at 7 p.m. and Southeastern Louisiana Sunday at 1 p.m.
Friday night will be packed with promotions as it is the team's Pink Out game to promote breast cancer awareness, senior day to honor the Kats lone senior Tricia Mallory, and Free Food from Wing Stop.
The Bearkats (6-8-1, 4-4 SLC) are in a three-way tie with Central Arkansas and Nicholls State for the fifth seed in next month's Southland Tournament.
This weekend provides a golden opportunity to pick up some vital points while playing at home. A&M-Corpus Christi is in the first year of its new women's soccer program and has just one win in league play while Southeastern Louisiana is tied with Oral Roberts for second in the league with a 7-2 record.
Sophomore midfielder Mariah Titus leads the Bearkats in scoring with six goals this season. Freshman forward Shannon Shields is second on the team with four goals and has assisted on two goals.
Mallory will be honored in the pregame ceremonies. The Klein High School product is the school's second all-time leading goal scorer with 25 goals, just two shy of the record.
She has received all-conference honors all three years and is a two-time member of the all-academic team.
Sunday's game against the Lions will be the final home game of the season. The Kats will finish the season on the road against Houston Baptist, Nov. 1, and Nicholls, Nov. 3.
The Southland Tournament will be in Lake Charles, La., Nov. 7-10.
