Sam Houston State and Southeastern Louisiana played to overtime for the third consecutive season and the Bearkats (7-9-1, 5-5 SLC) again were unable to get the win. The Lions scored in the 100th minute to beat the Kats 1-0.
The goal came with just 28 seconds left in the first overtime period. Amber Lasher headed it in and defender Megan Bennett was on the line but unable to clear it out.
This is the fourth Southland game the Kats have lost in overtime this season.
SHSU had a great chance to win the game in overtime when Katie Ferrara received the ball inside the box but she fired over the goal.
Kylie Hambleton had to make just three saves in the game. The Kats fired 25 shots in the game but only troubled the SLU 'keeper eight times.
The final regular season weekend will feature two very big road games for the Bearkats. Friday the team will play at Houston Baptist before heading to a crucial matchup with Nicholls State Sunday.
The Colonels are Bearkats are both 5-5 heading into the final weekend.
