Homecoming Tickets for Oct. 12 On Sale Now

Sam Houston hosts its 80th homecoming football game Saturday, Oct. 12, in a 2 p.m. duel with the Lamar University Cardinals at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium.
Tickets are on sale now online at www.gobearkats.com.
The matchup with the Cardinals Oct. 12 brings another exciting contest to Huntsville where Sam Houston owns the longest current home winning streak in FCS football with 18 consecutive victories.
The Bearkats climbed to No. 2 in the national poll after a huge victory over Eastern Washington last Saturday.
The Lamar game begins Southland Conference action for Sam Houston. The Kats are two-time defending Southland Conference football champions. Only three times in the 50-year history of the league has a program won three consecutive league football titles. The Bearkats are out to become the fourth.
Since the first SHSU alumni event was played at Joseph Pritchett Field in 1931, the Bearkats stand 38-47-1 in homecoming games. The Kats' record on the artificial turf at Bowers in homecoming games is 18-9 with SHSU riding a three-game homecoming win streak.
The 2013 homecoming event will feature all the excitement of past Alumni celebrations plus even more. Many of the 2014 inductees into the Sam Houston athletic Halls of Honor will be on hand. The University's 2013 "Distinguished Alumni" will be introduced and the homecoming king and queen will be announced.
Brookshire Brothers will host a special pre-game event in Huntsville Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the store parking lot. Sammy Bearkat and members of the SHSU Marching Band will be on hand with free Bearkat promotional items to be distributed to fans attending.
