SHSU men travel to Prairie View

The Sam Houston men's basketball team looks to run its record to 3-0 Thursday night when the Bearkats travel to Prairie View A&M for a 7 p.m. non-conference game.
The Kats opened the schedule with a 77-73 victory over Texas-Pan American in Edinburg Friday then rolled through Hillsdale Baptist 116-54 in Sam Houston's home opener Monday.
Prairie View enters Thursday's game with a 1-1 record. The Panthers lost to Mississippi State 71-56 in their season opener at Starkville, Miss., then bounced back with a 100-73 win over Schreiner Monday.
Sam Houston has three players averaging in double figures this season. Transfers Jabari Peters and Kaheem Ransom are putting up 18.0 and 16.5 points per game, respectively.
Redshirt freshman guard Dakarai Henderson scored 21 points in Monday's matchup with Hillsdale Baptist.
Sam Houston last started a season with back-to-back victories in 2011. The Bearkats' best season start in recent years was in 2007-08 when the SHSU men won their first 10 games in a row.
Prairie View is led by Demondre Chapman who scored 30 points in the Panthers' victory over Schreiner.
The Bearkats return to Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum Wednesday, Nov. 20, to play host to Jarvis Christian at 7 p.m. The contest will be Sam Houston's last home men's basketball game for more than a month as the Kats go on a seven-game road swing that includes games at Texas A&M, SMU, the SFA Classic and Corpus Christi Islander tournaments and Toledo.
