Kats No. 4 Seed At Southland Tournament

Sam Houston State will be the number four seed in the 2013 Southland Conference Volleyball Tournament, which is slated to begin Friday at the Dugan Wellness Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The Bearkats will play number five seed and tournament host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the first round Friday at 6:30 p.m. Sam Houston and the Islanders faced each other Saturday in the final regular season match of the year with A&M-Corpus Christi winning in three sets.
Central Arkansas (26-3, 18-0 Southland) is the number one seed. The Bears won their second consecutive regular-season title is the defending tournament champion.
UCA will try to become the first team to repeat as tournament champion since former Southland member Texas State won back-to-back titles in 2004 and 2005. The Bears are riding a 19-match win streak into the postseason and has won its last 25 matches against league opponents dating back to last season.
Central Arkansas will square off with No. 8 seed Stephen F. Austin (16-15, 8-10 Southland), Friday at 4 p.m.
Northwestern State (19-11, 15-3 Southland), the number two seed, will face No. 7 seed McNeese State (17-15, 9-9 Southland) Friday at 11 a.m.
Oral Roberts (22-6, 14-4 Southland) claimed the No. 3 seed and faces No. 6 seed Houston Baptist (14-17, 9-9 Southland) Friday at 1:30 p.m.
Sam Houston State (17-10, 14-4 Southland) is seeking its third tournament title and first since 1996.
The semifinals will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with the championship match starting Sunday at 2:05 p.m. The winner earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
The championship match will be carried exclusively on ESPN3. The quarterfinal and semifinal matches of the tournament will be streamed live on the Southland Conference Digital Network, available at southland.org and on the league's iPhone and Android mobile and tablet apps.
