Relay Teams Pace Bearkats To High Medal Count

The Bearkats brought home gold in both the men's and women's 400 meter relays and in the men's 60, 200 and 400 meter dashes, triple jump and heptathlon.
Trey Jones, Leroy Harris, Rodney Jones and Brian Helaire teamed for a 3:16.51 clocking to win the men's 4x400. Simbi George, Ruth Amaku, Taylor Sanders and Lygia Foreman combined for a 3:48.09 in the women's relay.
Matt Johnson returned to make a statement in the men's indoor heptathlon, winning the event with a total of 5,509 points. Johnson took first place in the 60 meter dash, the 60 meter hurdles and the pole vault. He was second in the long jump and third in the shot put to dominate the heptathlon.
Leroy Harris won the 200 meters (22.24) and was the runner-up in the 60 meters (6.88). Kristen Mitchell (6.87) edged out Harris for gold in the 60 meters.
Helaire won the 400 meters (48.57) while Rodney Jones placed third (49.16). Charles Wwhite (51' 0.75") and Mauro Parnell (49' 8.5") placed first and second, respectively, in the triple jump. Brek Christensen was third in the weight throw (60' 9.25").
Shelbie Zotyka was the runner-up in the pole vault (12' 4.75") and Ashley Jenkins was second in the weight throw (55' 6.5") for the women. Allyson Pettit was third in the women's pentathlon with 3,534 points.
