Sam Houston Track & Field Signs Eight

Seven high school standouts and one junior college transfer have signed letters-of-intent to attend Sam Houston State University to compete in track & field for head coach Dave Self.
The signings include Garrett Larson of Brenham; Jay Roberson of Tyler; Chris Theriot of Klein; Micaela Brown of Edgewood; Olivia Olguin of Arlington; Miranda Prado of Lorena; Kori Soinnet of Silsbee and Khalaya Williams of Waco.
"This is the biggest class we've signed on signing in probably five years," said head coach Dave Self. "We're really excited about the kids that are coming in. We don't have a lot of holes on our team but these athletes will shore up some spots."
"Jay Roberson is a guy we envision taking Matt Johnson's place in a few years in the multi-event," Self said. "Chris Theriot should slide right in where Karique Stephen will leave us after next year. Micaela Brown and Kori Soignet fill really the only spot on our team that needs additional help and should score for us in high jump. Olivia Olguin and Miranda Prado add depth to the Southland Cross Country runner-up team."
"Khalaya Williams is the sister of football player Torrance Williams. She's a great kid with a lot of upside."
