Lamar visits for doubleheader Saturday

The Bearkat women, 9-1 in Southland action, play host to second place Lamar which stands 8-3 in the 1:30 p.m. game.
A victory would give Sam Houston a three-game lead in the standings with seven games remaining in the regular season schedule.
The Kats edged Lamar 59-57 in Beaumont on Jan. 10 in a thriller that came down to a last second shot block by Britni Martin to clinch the win.
Sequeena Thomas and Chanice Smith each scored 16 points in the victory while Martin added 10. Kalis Loyd, the Cardinals' scoring leader, had 20 points in the loss.
The women's 9-1 league mark represents the program's best Southland start ever. Sam Houston has never been in first play in women's basketball this deep into the schedule.
The Sam Houston men enter Saturday's action tied for fifth place with a 5-5 Southland mark. The Bearkats have fallen in four of their last five games with three of those losses coming in overtime.
The men defeated Lamar 68-57 in Beaumont January 10. Terrance Motley led Sam Houston in that encounter with 14 points.
Saturday is "Domino's Pizza" day at Bearkat basketball. Free pizza coupons will be handed out to contestants during in-game promotions. There will be many opportunities to win Domino's at this game.
Sam Houston students are admitted to Bearkat home games on presentation of the BearkatOne cards.
Saturday's Sam Houston women's game will be broadcast live on 104.9 FM The Hits while the men's game will air on KSAM 101.7 FM.
