Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, ranked No. 69 in NCAA Division I college women's tennis, barely squeezed by the Sam Houston Bearkats Tuesday at McAdams Center.
Sheridan Currie, Natalie Petaia and Maddie Mortimore won at No. 2, 4 and 5 singles and Tanya Postnikova lost in a third set tiebreaker that decided the match.
The doubles point also went to a tiebreaker before the Islanders clinched it.
"This was a great college tennis match," head coach Jim Giachino said. "After and four hour battle between two evenly matched teams, it all came down to two individual points. We didn't get them but that doesn't negate a great team effort."
