Natchitoches, La. – Northwestern State won at one, two and four singles and took the doubles point to earn a 4-3 Southland Conference women's tennis dual match victory over Sam Houston Friday.
Tanya Postnikova, Maddie Mortimore and Nabia Dubyanskaya earned the Bearkats their three points with wins at number three, five and six singles.
Mortimore also teamed with Kayla Stevenson for an 8-5 victory in the number three doubles set. But victories for the Demons at the one and two positions proved decisive as Northwestern State started the match by winning the doubles point.
Postnikova defeated Natalya Krutova 6-3, 6-4, Mortimore topped Olga Leyshyna 6-3, 6-2 and Dubyanskaya outlasted Daniela Simovoa4-6, 6-3, 6-4
Northwestern State upped its season record to 8-5 overall. The Demons stand 3-1 in Southland Conference. Sam Houston is 4-8 for the year and 0-3 in league play.
