Houston Cougars Visit Wednesday

Sam Houston, now 14-15 for the year, has won five of its last six games. The Bearkats have totaled 31 runs in the five victories.
The Cougars come to town with a 16-8 record and stand 5-1 in Conference USA play.
Center fielder Tori Benavidez, who earned Southland Conference "Hitter of the Week" honors Monday, leads Sam Houston with a .420 season average.
Right fielder Cecilia Castillo is hitting .367, left fielder Jessica Slater .341 and designated player Hillary Adams .301.
Adams leads the Southland Conference in home runs with nine, Kim Damian has blasted five homers and Castillo four.
Holly Anderson and Reina Gaber lead Houston with batting averages of .395 and .325, respectively.
Shelby Lancaster (7-5, 2.89 ERA), Meme Quinn (2-3, 4.03 ERA) and Haley Baros (5-7, 4.25 ERA) are Sam Houston's top performers in the pitching circles.
Following the Houston game, Sam Houston travels to Beaumont to face Lamar in a three game weekend Southland Conference series.
