Rice Invitational in Houston

A pair of first place finishes and five runner-up medals highlighted action for the Sam Houston track and field team at the Rice Invitational Friday and Saturday in Houston.
Matthew Viverette won the men's 400 meter hurdles (51.54) and was the runner-up in the 110 hurdles (14.30). Kristen Mitchell won the 100 meters (10.46 )
Trey Jones (47.15) and Rodney Jones (47.31) placed second and third, respectively in the 400 meter dash.
Other men's runner-up finishes included Trevor Sealy in the hammer (61.17m), Charles White in the long jump (7.21m) and Trey Jones, Alex Gilreath, Rodney Jones and Brian Helaire in the 4x400 relay (3:08.32)
Kara Whitson posted the women's highest finish with a third place in the pole vault (3.55m). Ashley Thompson placed fourth.
Both the Bearkat 4x100 and 4x400 relays placed fourth.
Lauren Nwegbo, Lygia Foreman, Kristian Austin, Kristian and Elizabeth Ene were clocked in 46.22 in the 4x100. Simbi George, Jordan Grady, Ruth Amaku and Foreman ran a 3:41.18 in the 4x400.
Adrienne Quillin was a fourth place finisher in the hammer (51.38m).
