Baylor Michael Johnson Meet In Waco

The Sam Houston track and field team competed against the top teams in the Southwest at the annual Baylor University Michael Johnson / Dr. Pepper Classic at the Hart/Patterson Complex in Waco Saturday.
Brek Christenson won the hammer with a throw of 197' 5”. Trevor Sealy was the runner-up in the hammer with a mark of 197' 3”.
Clint Anders earned gold in the 1500 meters, finishing in 3:54.62.
Rodney Jones had the Bearkats' best sprint performance, winning the 400 meter dash in 47.31.
Charles White took third place in the triple jump, going 50' 0.75”. Garrett Rose placed third in the pole vault, clearing a height of 15' 1”.
Patrick Pitts earned third place honors in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a clocking of 9:40.66. Palo Ponce was third in the 5000 meters with a mark of 15:12.87.
Kara Whitson finished thirdin the women's pole vault with a mark of 11' 11.75”.
Fifth place finishers for the Bearkat women included Elizabeth Ene in the 100 meters (12.26), Jordan Grady in the 400 meters (56.69) and Danielle Dumas in the 100 meter hurdles (14.27).
