Bearkat Allyson Pettit was the top collegiate finisher in the Sam Houston Combined Events heptathlon Friday.
Pettit totaled 4,587 points. Dominique McLeggan, an unattached competitor, won the meet with 4,743 points. Frances Porter (3,942) and Nicole Jenrette (2,300) placed fifth and sixth, respectively.
Matt Johnson of Sam Houston won the decathlon with 7,235 points. The Bearkats Andrew Walker placed seventh (5,053) and Oliver Dubiel (4,483) was ninth.
Competition in the SHSU Quad track and field meet Saturday begins with field events at 1 p.m. and running events at 6 p.m.
