College Sports Madness Soccer Preseason All-SLC

Sam Houston sophomores Katie Ferrara and Kyle Hambleton have been named to the 2013 College Sports Madness Preseason All-Southland Conference team. Ferrara led the team in scoring last season while Hambleton was the Kats starting goalkeeper.
Ferrara, a forward from Round Rock, is a member of the first team. She scored four goals in her freshman season at SHSU while were game-winners. Ferrara was voted second team All-Southland Conference.
Hambleton, the shot-stopper from Katy, was voted the Southland Conference Freshman of the Year in 2012. She allowed only 17 goals in her 16 appearances in goal and posted six shutouts. Hambleton ranked second in the conference in saves per match (5.36), third in save percentage (.843) and fourth in shutouts.
Sam Houston opens the 2013 season with Texas Southern Aug. 25 before hitting the road. The Kats only other home match before Southland play in October is a Sept. 8 contest with Prairie View A&M.
The Southland will announce the official preseason All-Conference teams Aug. 13 and the preseason poll Aug. 14.
