Soccer at McNeese Sunday

The Sam Houston women's soccer team continues their tough road stretch with a match at McNeese State Sunday at 1 p.m. The Kats are coming off of their first league and road win of the season.
The Bearkats (3-4-1, 0-2 SLC) had four different goal scorers in last week's two games, against Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word. Midfielder Mariah Titus leads the team with four goals while eight total Kats have put the ball in the back of the net.
“We know that McNeese State is always a very tough place to play,” SHSU head coach Tom Brown said. “They have had some very good results this season. We know that we will have to play our best to get a result.”
Sam Houston has won the last five games against McNeese State. The Kats have shutout McNeese in the last two seasons. Katie Ferrara and Kayla Anderson scored the goals in last season's 2-0 win.
McNeese State, after starting the season strong with wins over Louisiana Tech, Texas State and ULM, is winless in their last four games. The Cowgirls are 0-2 in Southland play with losses to Nicholls and Southeastern La.
The Cowgirls are 5-2 at home this season, with their 1-0 loss to Southeastern Louisiana last week happening in Lake Charles, La.
The Kats complete their six-game road swing next Friday at Northwestern State and return home for a big match against rival Stephen F. Austin Sunday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m.
