PURCHASE TICKETS FOR 2014 BASEBALL BANQUET
Bearkat baseball fans who also love to fish need to put the 2014 Sam Houston Baseball Banquet and Auction on their calendar.
Three of the big items in the auction at the event Saturday, February 8 at 5 p.m. at the Lowman Student Center are outstanding fishing trips.
Up for bid will be a condo in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, for week-long fishing vacation; a Port O'Connor Guided Fishing Trip with Captain Sledge Parker and a guided fishing trip with Captain Dave Kveton at El Pescador Lodge in Port O' Connor.
The fishing trips are just a few of the great items up for bid in both the live and silent auctions. Sports memorabilia and apparel, art work, autographed baseballs, bats and uniforms and sporting event tickets will interest everyone in attendance.
Steve Sparks, former all-conference pitcher for the Bearkats and Major League Baseball player, will be the guest speaker.
Tickets for the dinner and auction are on sale now. The price is $100 per person or $1,000 for a table of 10.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Sam Houston baseball enrichment fund.
Sam Houston State is two-time defending Southland Conference baseball champion. The Bearkats have earned consecutive at-large berths in the NCAA regionals.
"Each year this event gets bigger and better," SHSU head coach David Pierce said. "We look forward to seeing everyone come out and help us get the 2014 season off to a great start. With back-to-back Southland championships and NCAA tournament appearances to celebrate plus the opportunity to meet our team for this season, it's going to be a lot of fun."
