Kats face trip to Central Arkansas

The road swing continues for Sam Houston State soccer as the team faces the long trip to Conway, Ark. to take on Central Arkansas Friday at 7:00 p.m. The UCA Bears are 1-3-1 in league play after falling to Southeastern Louisiana last week.
The Bearkats are 4-2 in Southland play after beating Lamar 2-0 on the road a week ago. Sophomore forwards Jordan Jarzombeck and Allie Johnson scored for the Kats. For Jarzombeck it was her first career goal, while Johnson leads the team with six goals and has scored in five straight matches.
SHSU's win over the Cardinals was the first shutout of the season for the Kats. Junior goalkeeper Kylie Hambleton made four saves to pick up the clean sheet. The freshman central defense pairing of Ashley Long and Caitlyn Schwartz were solid yet again to help notch the shutout.
Sam Houston has beaten Central Arkansas six straight times, dating back to the 2008 season.
The Bearkat road trip continues next Friday as the team heads to A&M-Corpus Christi before travelling to Southeastern Louisiana Sunday. Sam Houston closes the regular season at home against Houston Baptist (Oct. 31) and Nicholls State (Nov. 2).
Sam Houston is aiming for a sixth straight appearance in the Southland Conference tournament, where the Bearkats made it to the semifinals last season. This year's event is at the Lamar Soccer Complex in Beaumont from Nov. 6-9.
