
Hill & Hall Earn Southland Weekly Honors

After leading Sam Houston to its third Southland Conference championship in the past four years in a 38-31 victory over Central Arkansas Saturday, running back Keshawn Hill and defensive end P. J. Hall earned weekly awards from the Southland Conference.
Hill was league “Offensive Player of the Week” as heposted the seventh-highest single game rushing total in Sam Houston State history. The senior from Klein, Texas (Klein H.S.) rushed for 242 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries in the Bearkats' 38-31 win over Central Arkansas.
Hill scored on runs of 13 and 15 yards and set up another touchdown with a 61-yard run, his sixth 50+ yard run of the season. Hill now ranks second in school history in career touchdowns (40), third in rushing touchdown (34) and fourth in scoring (240 points).
Hall earned “Defensive Player of the Week” for the UCA to up his total number of weekly awards this season to three.
He continued to make a statement for the Jerry Rice Award as FCS top freshman with two sacks, two tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a vital blocked field goal in the win over Central Arkansas.The freshman from Seguin, Texas (Seguin H.S.), had four total tackles in the contest.
Sam Houston State will play host to Southeastern Louisiana Saturday at 1 p.m. at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium in Huntsville in an FCS playoff opening round game.
