Jacksonville State next up for Bearkats

With the 21-17 victory over No. 9 Southeastern Louisiana Saturday, Sam Houston moves on to the second round of the FCS playoffs Saturday at 1 p.m. against No. 3 seed Jacksonville State.
Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at JSU Stadium in Jacksonville, Alabama.
The Gamecocks stand 10-1 on the year and are the champions of the Ohio Valley Conference. JSU's only loss this year was to Michigan State 45-7. Jacksonville State rolled to 10 consecutive victories after the opener.
John Grass, a first year coach and former Gamecock player, earned Ohio Valley Conference “Coach of the Year” honors.
The Gamecocks had a record 18 selections honored as all-conference, taking three of the four major 2014 postseason league honors.
Junior defensive tackle Devaunte Sigler was OVA Defensive Player of the Year and offensive tackle Justin Lea was the conference Freshman of the Year. Junior running back Dy'Shawn Mobley was the OVC Offensive Player of the Year.
The 10-game winning streak is tied for the second longest active streak in the country.
The winner of Saturday's second round game will advance to the FCS quarterfinals to face the winner of the matchup between Liberty and No. 6 seed Villanova.
Sam Houston's tilt with the Gamecocks will be telecast on ESPN3.
