Seventh place at Crusader Classic

Sam Houston racked up baker best-of-seven victories over the number 6 and 15 teams in the nation Sunday to end up in seventh place in bracket play at the Crusader Classic in Valparaiso, Indiana.
The Bearkats also finished seventh in overall pin fall for the event with 15,514 pins for an average of 189.2
For the tournament, Sam Houston went 9-7 including victories over six nationally ranked opponents.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers won the tournament championship, defeating runner-up Arkansas State in the tournament finals. Nebraska led the event in total pin fall with a 16,150 score for an average of 197.0 throughout the weekend.
To start action Sunday, Sam Houston defeating Valparaiso in tradtional team play 972-951.
Then, the Bearkats opened Sunday's action with a seven game loss to No. 6 Central Missouri. The Mules won 173-199, 197-180, 178-225, 202-183, 216-200, 202-246, 225-217.
Sam Houston bounced back to defeat No. 15 Valparaiso in four games 212-179, 221-207, 200-164, 199-189 and knock off Central Missouri in six games 215-201, 189-175, 183-192, 178-210, 157-139, 246-199 in a rematch.
Saturday in tradition team play, Central Missouri defeated the Kats 974-949 in Saturday's opening match. The Kats lost to No. 2Arkansas Sstate 1,069-819 in their second contest.
Sam Houston rebounded with an 880-818 win over Prairie View but dropped a 1,048-912 decision to No. 1 Nebraska in a rematch of last year's NCAA finals in Cleveland.
The Bearkats closed out the day with a 1,023-941 win over Alabama State and an 886-750 victory over Elmhurst.
Friday in quad baker action, the SHSU women opened with a 1,002-903 victory over Vanderbilt but fell to Wisconsin-Whitewater 1,113-955 in the second contest of the day.
The Bearkats rallied to defeat McKendree 920-852 and Monmouth 1,045-926 in back-to-back matches. But things turned as Tulane defeated the Kats 946-901 and Alma College
