Sam Houston picked up its third dual match win of the 2014 season with a 5-2 victory over Tarleton State Saturday afternoon at the McAdams Tennis Center.

Kayla Stevenson, Natalie Petaia, Karen Martinez, Bella Costa and Imke Jagau picked up the victories for the Kats in singles after Tarleton State took the doubles point.

Petaia's 5-7 7-6 6-1 win over Marina Rull at No. 3 singles was the match-clinching win for the Kats.

Petaia and Mortimore picked up the Bearkats' only doubles victory.

Sam Houston travels to College Station to face nationally-ranked Texas A&M

“Tarleton State has a very well-coached and strong team,” SHSU head coach Jim Giachino said. “This was a good win today for the Bearkats.

Sam Houston played without Olivia Battye who was out with a back injury. Imke Jagau saw her first action of the season, returning from an injury.
