SHSU Women 4-1 On Track Kat Klash Final Day

No. 1 Arkansas State completed its 15-1 run through the third annual Track Kat Klash women's bowling tournament Sunday sweeping unbeaten (5-0) through quad baker competition.
The Red Wolves ended the weekend 15-1 with a pin total of 15,449 during the three day event held at the Palace Lanes in Houston.
Sam Houston State won four of its five quad baker matches Sunday to end up in second place in the quad baker standings.
The Bearkats started the day with a 794-741 victory over No. 8 Vanderbilt. The SHSU bowlers also scored victories over Southern (808-696), Tulane (809-706) and Alabama State (868-655).
The team's only loss came at the hands of No. 14 Valparaiso by a score of 799-773.
"Today the light bulb finally went off,” SHSU head coach Brad Hagen said. “We caught a couple tough breaks early against Valparaiso but, other than that, today was back to full strength. We really showed some moxy today and conceptually accepted what we had to get done and how we were going to do it."
Wisconsin-Whitewater, LIU-Brooklyn and Stephen F. Austin rounded out the top five in Sunday's standings.
For the entire three-day event, Arkansas State went 15-1 with the top pin fall total of 15,449.
Stephen F. Austin and Nebraska both went 10-6.
