Women move up to No. 7 in NTCA Poll

Sam Houston has moved up to No. 7 in the National Ten Pins Coaches Association (NTCA) women's bowling poll for NCAA Division I.
The Bearkats stand 71-36 in dual matches this season, the most wins by any team so far this year in the top 20.
Arkansas State (51-16) remains the No. 1 team in NCAA women's bowling. The Red Wolves received 21 of 24 possible first place votes.
Nebraska, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Fairleigh Dickinson and Central Missouri round out the top five.
Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston stand No. 6 and 7, respectively. Vanderbilt, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Saint Francis (PA) complete the top 10.
Sam Houston owns a 36-30 record this season against other teams in the current top 20. Fifteen of those wins have come over top 10 teams including three victories over No. 1 Arkansas State and two against the No. 2 Huskers.
The SHSU bowlers have two more tournaments remaining on their regular season schedule. The Kats head to the Ozark Invitational in Kansas City, Mo., Feb. 28. Next is the Music City Classic in Smyran, Tenn., beginning March 7.
Sam Houston is seeking its third NCAA Elite Eight appearance in the program's four-year history. The NCAA tournament begins April 10 in Cleveland.
The Kats have one tournament title and a pair of runner-up finishes to their credit.
