SHSU women to host Texas Southern Tuesday

The Bearkat softball team begins a four-game home stand Tuesday with a single non-conference contest against Texas Southern.
Sam Houston will return to Southland Conference action Saturday and Sunday with a three game weekend series with Lamar.
The Kats bring an 11-13 record into Tuesday's action at the Softball Complex. Texas Southern enters the matchup with a 6-10 record.
The softball team got back on the winning track Sunday afternoon in Hammond, La, rallying from a 6-0 deficit to defeat Southeastern Louisiana 9-6. The Lions swept a doubleheader from SHSU on Saturday.
The Sam Houston softball team continues to hit at a near-record pace with a team batting average of .301. Only last year's squad that set the school record for season batting average (.316) has produced a higher mark in the Bearkats' 27 years at the NCAA Division I level.
