Kats drop series in 3-1 loss

The Sam Houston State offense was unable to get much going in Sunday's series finale as they lost 3-1 to Northwestern State and dropped a second consecutive league series. Hayden Simerly's solo homer provided the only Bearkat run.

Sam Houston pitching finished the weekend with 13 walks, 11 hit batters and nine wild pitches, which proved to be too much for the SHSU offense to overcome.

Jason Simms started and tossed five innings allowing three runs on five hits. He struck out one but hit five batters.

Alan Scott kept the Demons off the board for the final four innings and allowed just one hit.

Simerly and Corey Toups each had two hits in the ballgame.

Next action for the Bearkats is on the road for a three-game series at Oral Roberts.
