Azar Named Hitter of the Week

Senior catcher Anthony Azar has been named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Monday.
Azar helped lead Sam Houston to four wins on the week to extend the Bearkats' winning streak to six games.
The senior from The Woodlands, Texas (The Woodlands H.S.), started the week with three hits and scored the winning run in Sam Houston's 4-3 victory against Baylor.
In the Bearkats' conference sweep of Abilene Christian, Azar recorded seven hits, including a perfect 4-for-4 performance with a double, home run and 4 RBI in the series finale. On the week, Azar hit .625 (10-for-16) with three doubles, one home run, five RBI and five runs scored.
The Bearkats are back in action against another ranked opponent as they host No. 10 Houston Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Don Sanders Stadium.
