Bearkats open NCAA Championships Thursday

WICKLIFFE, Ohio -- The Sam Houston State women's bowling team will open the NCAA Bowling Championships Thursday with the qualifying rounds of the tournament.
The seventh-seeded Bearkats are competing in their third championship event in the program's fourth year of existence, and head coach Brad Hagen likes the way the team has competed as of late.
"We put ourselves in position early in the year to have to have a strong spring just to get in to the championship and that is what we have done," Hagen said. "Because of the way we finished, I think we are coming in hot and I like our chances."
Thursday's action will consist of seven matches against the other teams in the field. From Thursday's play, the teams will be re-seeded for Friday's double elimination bracket play. The championship will conclude on Saturday night with the finals televised live on ESPNU.
