Coggins Receives National Academic Honor

Sam Houston second baseman Alyssa Coggins is one of 12 players from NCAA Division I softball programs in Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska who have been voted to the 2014 Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District VII team.
A first-team Academic All-Southland Conference selection last season, Coggins already has earned her bachelor's degree as a general major. She now is working on a Master's in business administration.
The Sealy High School product posted a 3.76 overall undergraduate grade points average and sports a perfect 4.0 GPA for her graduate work.
On the field, she holds an amazing record having started every one of Sam Houston's 214 games the past four years at second base.
Coggins owns a .336 on base percentage with 39 hits this season including two doubles and four triples. She is an outstanding fielder as well with a .970 average with only eight errors in 166 chances.
The senior second baseman stands second in SHSU softball career fielding assists and seventh in career at bats.
