7/2/2014 3:05:00 PM | Women's Bowling
The national telecast of Sam Houston State's victory over Nebraska to win the 2014 NCAA Division I women's bowling national championship will be rebroadcasted three times during the July 4 weekend.
The telecast will be repeated in its entirety at the following times:
5 p.m. Thursday July 3
6 a.m. Friday July 4
11 a.m. Sunday July 6
All times are Central.
The telecasts will appear on ESPNU.
The national championship was the first in any sport for the Bearkats since the program moved to the Division I level in 1986.
The thrilling 4-2 victory over the defending national champion Cornhuskers was a nail-biter and made for great drama.
“It was the dream from the beginning,” head coach Brad Hagen said. “We hope any Bearkat fans who haven't seen the national championship telecast will take this opportunity to watch. Any, for those fans who watched live, it's a great way to experience the thrills again.”
The two teams traded the first four games of the match, Sam Houston winning the first 181-166 and the third 193-190 while Nebraska took the second 187-182 and the fourth 197-189.
The momentum turned in the fifth game, when Sam Houston started with four consecutive strikes to earn a 205-191 win and a 3-2 lead. Sam Houston rolled a 195 to take the final game.
Sam Houston earned the national title in only the Bearkats' fourth season of play.
