Former Sam Houston basketball star Corey Allmond has signed with the Rochester RazorSharks of the Premier Basketball League for the 2015 season. Allmond played with the Maine Red Claws of the NBA's Developmental League last year.
After making headlines during his senior year at Sam Houston State in 2010, including a 37-point outburst against the Kentucky Wildcats, Allmond has spent the past three years working on his game in the NBA D-League.
Allmond has averaged 7.6 points and 1.8 rebounds per game over the course of his D-League career, including a career-high 15.5 points and 3 rebounds per game in 2012 for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
“He's a great shooter, but he can also finish at the basket and defend at a high level,” RazorSharks head coach Robert Spon said in an official press release. “He is a veteran player that will provide leadership both on and off the court.”
Allmond helped the Bearkats to the NCAA Tournament in 2010 where they were narrowly defeated by the Baylor Bears. The Kats won the Southland regular season and tournament titles that season.
During his career Allmond has made stops in Morocco, Turkey and China.
