
Bearkat Trio on USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

Lygia Foreman, Kara Whitson and Kaylynne Wright were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team, helping Bearkats earn All-Academic team honors.
The Bearkat women posted a combined team grade point average of 3.16 in 2013-14. A total of
208 women's teams earned the distinction as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher.
Foreman was named the 2014 Southland Student-Athlete of the Year after helping the Kats to indoor and outdoor titles. The senior from Fort Worth, Texas (Eastern Hills H.S.), tied for the high point scorer at the outdoor championships and maintained a 3.44 GPA.
Whitson was the Southland pole vault champion at outdoor and the runner-up to her teammate, Katelyn Wynn, at indoor. The junior has a 3.36 GPA in Food Science and Nutrition.
Wright finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 40 feet, 11 ¾ inches and earned all-academic honors with a 3.78 in Psychology.
A total of 727 women from 193 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
1. For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
2. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
Minnesota led all teams with 21 honorees, well ahead of the second-highest total of 13 posted by both BYU and Nebraska. Ten other teams were represented by 10 or more honorees, including indoor national champion Oregon with 12.
