Box Score The Bearkats played a strong first half and had a chance to take a second-half lead over TCU, before ultimately falling, 3-1, in Sam Houston's final non-conference game of the season. SHSU will open league play against Abilene Christian at Pritchett Field Friday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m.
“I think we competed hard tonight,” Bearkat head coach Tom Brown said. “We tried to play positive soccer and we competed and battled. We have to continue to get in sync up top.”
Sam Houston was awarded a penalty early in the second half, but Mariah Titus' attempt from the penalty spot was saved onto the crossbar by TCU goalkeeper Vittoria Arnold.
The Horned Frogs were able to open the scoring just a few minutes later. After a foul by TCU, SHSU goalkeeper Kylie Hambleton took a free kick near the edge of her box. The ball was intercepted by TCU's Michelle Prokof. The TCU no. 10 passed to Emma Heckendorn, who slotted the ball into the back of the net.
Six minutes later Heckendorn doubled the TCU lead after a good cross from teammate Jill Finnerty.

The Bearkats were given a lifeline a minute later when Ashley Alonzo' crossed the ball in from the right side and TCU defender Meghan Murphy put the ball in her own net.
