Southland play starts Friday

The Bearkats will then host Incarnate Word on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Pritchett Field.
ACU beat the Kats, 2-1, in Abilene last season in the first league matchup between the two schools. Mariah Titus scored for SHSU in the 80th minute but the comeback attempt fell short.
The Wildcats are 3-5 going into league play. Sam Houston and ACU both dropped games to TCU and Texas Tech, while the Wildcats have wins over Wayland Baptist, Texas Wesleyan and UT-Pan American.
Incarnate Word will be looking for its first win of the season Sunday and will be fresh after having Friday off. Sam Houston beat the Cardinals, 3-1, last season in San Antonio with Shelby McDaniel assisting on two goals.
The Kats are looking to get back in the win column after dropping the last three matches. SHSU was picked to finish third in the league this season behind Stephen F. Austin and Southeastern Louisiana.
McNeese State and Northwestern State come to Pritchett in the following weekends. After road trips to Stephen F. Austin, Lamar, Central Arkansas, A&M-Corpus Christi and Southeastern Louisiana, the Kats finish up with Houston Baptist and Nicholls at home.
