Southeastern Louisiana Foe Monday at 7

The Sam Houston men's basketball team will seek to extend its current winning streak to seven games when the Bearkats take on Southeastern Louisiana Monday at 7 p.m. at the University Center in Hammond.
Southeastern Louisiana (4-11, Southland 1-1) picked up its first conference victory Saturday, defeating Houston Baptist 87-67.
Sam Houston (11-4, Southland 3-0) has rolled up league wins over Incarnate Word, Northwestern State and New Orleans.
The Lions lost to defending champion and 2015 Southland preseason favorite Stephen F. Austin in the two team's league opener one week ago. Zay Jackson led Southeastern Louisiana with 18 points in the loss to SFA. Joshua Filmore and Onochie Ochie each scored 17 points to lead the Lions in the win over the Huskies.
For the season, Jackson is averaging 15.9 points per game and Filmore 12.9.
DeMarcus Gatlin led the Bearkats with 15 points in Saturday's win over the Privateers in New Orleans. Gatlin (11.1 ppg) and Kaheem Ransom (10.9 ppg) lead Sam Houston's balanced attack in which seven players are averaging more than seven points a game.
In both Kat victories over Incarnate Word and Northwestern State, the Bearkats had five players score in double figures.
Sam Houston State is shooting 43.2 percent from the floor, 32.7 percent from three-point range and 70.2 percent on free throws. The Bearkats are averaging 78.1 points and 44.8 rebounds per game.
The SHSU men defeated Southeastern Louisiana twice last season, winning 85-78 in Hammond and 71-54 in Huntsville. The Kats have won eight of their last nine meetings with the Lions and hold a 25-15 advantage in the all-time series between the pair.
Monday night's game will be broadcast live in the Walker County area on KSAM 101.7 FM.
Next action for the Bearkat men will be a home game with McNeese State at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
