Six months free rent at The Grove apartments is the grand prize in the annual Great Bearkat Shootout at Sam Houston home basketball at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
The Great Bearkat Shootout presented by The Grove starts Wednesday and Thurday, January 14-15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Lowman Student Center mall area.
The free throw competition preliminary rounds will determine four finalists to compete during halftime of the Sam Houston versus Stephen F. Austin men's basketball game on Saturday, January 24.
The top four contestants will be notified by The Grove following this week's preliminary rounds.
A wild card contestant also will be chosen by raffle on game day January 24. Students must attend the game to be eligible to win the raffle and a chance to join with the other four finalists in the competition.
The five finalists will compete in a knockout contest to determine who gets to live at The Grove and pay only half of his or her rent for the 2015-16 school year.
To participate, students must show their Bearkat One identification card.
