
Rodney Jones Wins 400 meters in New Mexico

Rodney Jones won the 400 meters and posted two of the season bests achieved Saturday to highlight action for the Sam Houston State men's track and field team at the University of New Mexico Indoor meet in Albuquerque.
Jones ran a 47.08 to take gold in the 400 meter dash. He also was sixth in the 200 meters with a mark of 21.46. Both were season bests for Jones.
Jay Roberson broke an eight-year-old school record with a pole vault of 17' 4.5" Friday. The mark which earned Roberson third place in the event broke the old school record of 17' 2" set by Matt Adkisson in Fayetteville in 2007.
Other bests earned by the Bearkat men included a fifth place time of 1:52.34 by Jeffrey Moore in the 800 meters and 60 meter hurdle times of 8.27 by William Stark and 8.43 by Tyler Adams. The pair placed fifth and ninth, respectively.
Tyler Adams finished fourth in the high jump with a height of 6' 11”.
“Coming out to Albuquerque was a great opportunity for several of our athletes to get a good mark in an outstanding facility at attitude,” SHSU head coach Dave Self said.
