Bearkats 6-4 going into Prairie View final day

The No. 5 ranked Sam Houston women's bowling team stands 6-4 after two days of action at the Prairie View A&M Invitational.
Each of their six victories have come over nationally-ranked opponents in the event that is being played at the International Training and Research Center Arlington. Nine of the top 10 teams in the country are participating in the tournament.
The SHSU women won only two of their five traditional team matches in Saturday's competition.
The Bearkats opened the day with a 1,070 – 871 victory over No. 15 Valparaiso. However, Sam Houston dropped its next three matches falling to host team Prairie View 1,085 – 1,016, Alabama State 984 – 894 and No. 3 Arkansas State 1,070 – 973.
The SHSU women rebounded for a win over No. 9 Maryland-Eastern Shore 991 – 967.
“Saturday was a roller coaster with highs and lows and some bad timing,” SHSU head coach Brad Hagen said. “We need to do a better job of not beating ourselves on Saturdays when traditionally we are so strong. This tournament has an outstanding field and all the top teams are taking hits.”
Fairleigh Dickinson leads the top after the first two days with 10,857 points. Sam Houston will be the number eight seed in Sunday's best of seven baker bracket play.
Sam Houston now stand 64-30 for the season in dual match record play. The Bearkats are 42-26 against teams ranked among the top 20. The women evened their record against top 10 teams at 19-19 Saturday.
