
Top bowler Taryn Gray signs with Bearkats

Taryn Gray from Greenville, Texas, has signed with Sam Houston's nationally-ranked women's bowling program.
Gray finished 21st at this year's 2015 Teen Masters tournament and was 14th in 2014. She finished in the top third of a field of 800 in the 2015 USBC Junior Gold National Championships in Chicago.
“Taryn has made a name for herself in some of the nation's largest and most prestigious youth bowling stages,” Sam Houston head coach Brad Hagen said. “She also is an outstanding student with a long list of high school achievements.”
Gray has compiled a 3.8 grade point average and ranked among the top 10% in her class. She plans to major in criminal justice, a program at Sam Houston that is ranked among the best accredited programs in the world.
Now in its sixth year of NCAA Division I competition, the Sam Houston women's bowling program has ranked in among the top 10 teams in the nation each season. The Bearkats won the 2014 NCAA National Championship and reached the semifinals for a second consecutive year last April.
