Bowlers go 4-0, top three ranked teams Thursday

Sam Houston defeated three nationally-ranked opponents including defending NCAA champion and tournament host University of Nebraska as the Bearkats went 4-0 on the first day of the Big Red Classic in Lincoln, Nebraska Thursday.
The Kats defeated No. 1 Nebraska 1076 to 1025, No. 7 Wisconsin-Whitewater 1099 to 1002 and No. 8 Central Missouri 986 to 964. Sam Houston also topped unranked Lincoln 912 to 685 to stands as the only unbeaten team during the first day's action.
No. 3 Arkansas State took first place in the total pins competition with 4,223 for a 211.2 pin fall average. Central Missouri was in second with 4,150 pins. Both teams were 3-1 in baker action.
Wisconsin-Whitewater place third in the pin totals with 4,088 followed by Sam Houston at 4,073.
Competition continues for the next two days. Each day's action is a separate event.
