
Bearkats are No. 7 seed at Southland tournament

With Sam Houston's four-set volleyball victory over Houston Baptist Saturday afternoon in the final regular season game of the 2015 season, the Bearkats earned the number seven seed at the annual Southland Tournament to be held Friday, November 20, through Sunday, November 22 in Conway, Arkansas.
The Bearkats will play the host team UCA Bears in the first round on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Sam Houston will be making its 20th appearance in the Southland Conference post-season volleyball event. The Bearkats have earned a spot in the field nine consecutive season.
The winner of the tournament earns the conference's NCAA playoff berth. Sam Houston won the Southland tournament and advanced to the NCAA event in 1993 and 1996. The Kats also earned a spot in the Southland championship game in 1987 and 1994 but finished as runners-up.
A&M-Corpus Christi, a team that had to go five sets before defeating Sam Houston Thursday night, earned the No. 1 seed in post-season play after going undefeated in Southland play to earn the league's regular season title.
The rest of the seeding includes Central Arkansas at number two, Stephen F. Austin three, McNeese State four, New Orleans five, Houston Baptist six and Southeastern Louisiana eighth.
The first two rounds of the tournament will be streamed live on the Southland Conference Digital Network, including Southland.org/watch and the league's mobile and tablet apps.
The championship final will be an exclusive presentation of ESPN3 available via WatchESPN.com.
