Abby James from McKinney to join Kats

First baseman Abby James from McKinney, Texas, has joined the group of high school seniors who will play softball as freshmen for Sam Houston during the 2016-17 school year.
James is a three-time all-academic athlete, two-time all-district selection, a National Honor Society member and a three-year honor roll student.
She joins a group of players who signed early with the Bearkats in November.
The group includes pitcher/third baseman Casey Kauder from Caldwell; pitcher/hitter Kaitlynn Dawson from Lubbock; catcher/third baseman Bailey White from Burleson; middle infielder Tiffany Thompson from Montgomery and outfielder Megan McDonald from Georgetown.
“We are so excited about this recruiting class because of how well they perform academically and athletically,” Sam Houston softball coach Bob Brock said. “We expect them to have an immediate impact within our program in every way possible.”
