
Jordyn Vaughn named Academic All-Southland

Jordyn Vaughn, sophomore outside hitter from Huntsville, has been named to the 2015 Academic All-Southland Conference volleyball honor squad.
The accounting major who has compiled a 3.61 overall grade point average in her two years at Sam Houston is one of 18 players named to the team.
A Dean's List student each of her semesters at the university, Vaughn led the Bearkats with a 3.51 kills per set average this season. She posted 15 double figure kills performances including season bests of 25 against Lamar and 22 at Rice. She also was credited with 2.20 digs per set.
Vaughn earned All-Tournament honors at the annual Southland Conference post-season event after leading the Bearkats to the league semi-finals. Sam Houston upset host Central Arkansas in three sets in the first round.
In two seasons with the Sam Houston volleyball team, Vaughn has totaled 501 kills in 1,482 attempts.
The Academic All-Southland Conference squad is selected by vote of the league's head coaches, sports information directors and academic/compliance administrators.
Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competition to qualify for the all-academic teams.
