The UTEP Miners defeated Sam Houston 5-2 in the Bearkats' third women's tennis match on a road trip to New Mexico and El Paso.

Karen Martinez and Maddie Mortimore provided the SHSU women their two points, winning at No. 4 and 5 singles. Sam Houston's number one player Olivia Battye was unable to play Sunday due to an injury.

Martinez defeated Lois Wagenvoort 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) while Mortimore won over Danphne Visscher 6-3, 6-1.

Mortimore and Mila Milanovic combined to win the number two doubles 6-4.
Next action for the SHSU women will be a home dual match with Prairie View A&M Friday.
