Ebbs named Hitter of the Week

Sam Houston State sophomore Dylan Ebbs has been named the Southland Baseball Hitter of the Week after he helped the Bearkats to a sweep of New Orleans to open league play.
The Bearkats' designated hitter had a great week at the plate after he was given a starting spot.
Ebbs opened last week as the starting pitcher and designated hitter in the 5-2 loss to McNeese State. He drove in the Kats' only two runs in the game while also tossing six innings, allowing two unearned runs and picking up the tough-luck loss.
He carried his hot hitting into the series with New Orleans over the weekend.
He was 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs scored in game one. He then went hitless in game two but still managed to help the cause by driving in a run.
He capped off the week with a 3-for-5 game with two RBI and a run scored. He drove in the first two runs of the series finale and scored the game-winning run in the 10th inning.
Ebbs and the Bearkats will hope to build on their weekend success when they host No. 21 Houston Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Don Sanders Stadium.
