Jabari Peters, Michael Holyfield All-Tournament

Bearkat seniors Jabari Peters and Michael Holyfield were voted to the 2015 All-Tournament Team at the Southland Conference Men's Basketball Championships this weekend.
Peters, a 6-4 guard from Brooklyn, NY, earned the honor for the second year in a row. Peters scored 19 points including the game-winning three-point shot in Sam Houston's semi-final victory over A&M-Corpus Christi. He was one of four players in double figures in the finals Saturday.
For the tournament, Peters totaled 30 points, nine rebounds and five assists in 65 minutes of action. He went 5-of-7 from beyond the arc in the victory over the Islanders.
Holyfield was the leading rebounder in both Sam Houston's games in Katy. The 6-11 center from Albuquerque, New Mexico, pulled down 14 points (including 10 offensive rebounds) in the win over A&M-Corpus Christi. He grabbed 12 boards in the finals.
Holyfield also scored in double figures in both contest, totaling 12 points on Friday and leading Sam Houston with 18 on Saturday.
With five blocked shots during the tournament, Holyfield set a Sam Houston season record for blocks with a total of 80. The previous season high was 79 by Eddy Fobbs in 2003.
Peters becomes the second Bearkat to earn Southland All-Tournament honors twice. Gilberto Calvell was selected all-tournament in both 2010 and 2011.
Holyfield becomes the 11th Kat player to be named to the tournament honor squad.
Others have been Raheem Ransom (2014), Ashton Mitchell (2010), Eddy Fobbs (2003), John Gardiner (2006), Darius Gatson (2013), Jejuan Plair (2006) and Seneca Wall (2001).
