Anna Groce named NCAA All-Tournament

Sam Houston junior Anna Groce has been named to the five-player NCAA Women's Bowling National Championships all-tournament team.
The junior from Kernersville, North Carolina, helped lead Sam Houston to the NCAA Final Four for the second time in two years.
Joining Groce on the all-tournament team were Lindsay Rusch from Wisconsin Whitewater, Stephanie Schwartz from Stephen F. Austin and Julia Bond and Liz Kuhlkin from Nebraska.
The Cornhuskers won the national championship, Nebraska's fifth NCAA women's bowling title. Sam Houston lost to Nebraska in five games in the opening round. The Bearkats rallied to knock off Central Missouri in four games and Fairleigh Dickinson in six to reach the semifinals. Again, the Cornhuskers knocked off the Kats in six games to advance to the championship finals.
“The girls gave a tremendous effort,” SHSU head coach Brad Hagen said. “To reach the NCAA final four in back-to-back years is exciting and all but one of our players return next season.”
Groce becomes the second Bearkat to earn all-tournament at the NCAA Championships. Kimi Davidson was NCAA tournament “Most Valuable Player” in 2014 after leading the Bearkats to a national championship with a victory over Nebraska in the finals.
